PROCESSIONS

Over six workshops at Glasgow Women's Library, I collaborated with a group of women to create a banner for PROCESSIONS, a nationwide project culminating in public processions on 10 June 2018.

The banner was screen-printed and featured smaller pieces surrounding a central section. Texts were derived from group discussions on womanhood in 2018 and research from Glasgow Women's Library's archives. While the group collectively decided on the banner's design and message, individual women contributed texts for the smaller sections printed together in the workshops. Repeating images of women's hands, captured during the workshops, formed the background, showcasing diverse skin tones. Our exploration of flag and banner designs inspired the graphic shape surrounding the central text.

PROCESSIONS was a mass participation project bringing thousands of women together in creative workshops leading to UK-wide public processions on Sunday 10th June 2018.

The banner is now part of Glasgow Women's Library collection.
